Missions

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations

Matthew 28:19

Missions are an important part of the Christian life. Spreading the Gospel to all nations is the Great Commandment. At Morton Methodist Church we have many ways for you to get involved with our missions. This can range from a donation to a mission trip and lots in between. Check out our page below to learn more and get involved!

Our Missions

Be the hands of God

Liberia

Our Liberia mission connects to United Methodist churches and schools in the Liberia Annual Conference.  It is directed toward two different areas: schooling and health.  We work with the Saclapea schools to fund the school building, teacher’s salaries, and supplies.  Through the Gumpta District of the UMC Liberia conference we work to provide scholarships for a nurse/midwife program.  If you would like to help support these vital missions, check out our online giving and make a note to “Liberia”.

Serving at Trinity Church

Once a month on the first Saturday of the month, our church volunteers to run the food bank at Trinity church. We always need more volunteers! To volunteer or get more information, email us at info@mortonumc.org

The Ridge

Morton Methodist Church partners with other churches in the area to provide food and other necessities for the people in the Ridge. To get involved, or get more information, contact info@mortonumc.org.

Skeins of love

Skeins of Love is a ministry of love and prayer expressed through the giving and receiving of shawls. Since we began this ministry in 2005, our mission has been to effectively share God’s love with others through the simple art of knitting and crocheting shawls, afghans, baby blankets and pocket crosses. Around our gathered circle, each item is blessed and passed through our praying hands before it is given away.
Skeins of Love meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. at the church. Over the years many who knit and crochet have participated in this ministry and we welcome you to join us!
If you are interested in becoming a part of Skeins of Love, you may contact Jan Sampson at jsampson143@gmail.com

Quilters

This group meets weekly for fellowship and quilting.  For individuals of any ability, the quilters share quilting tips and designs as well as a hot cup of coffee.  All are welcome. They meet every Thursday morning from 8:30 to 11:00am.  Please contact the church at info@mortonumc.org for more information.
